May 10, 2010
  1. The Regular Meeting of the Saline Township Board was called to order by Supervisor Marion on May 10, 2010 at 7:30pm at the Saline Town Hall, 5731 Braun Road, Saline, MI 48176.

  2. Members present: Supervisor Marion, Clerk Marion, Treasurer Gordon, Trustees R. Prehn and R. Marion. Three other citizens were present.

  3. Mr. R. Prehn led the Pledge of Allegiance.

  4. Mr. R. Prehn moved, supported by Mr. R. Marion, that the agenda be approved with the following change; (9) Delete Dan Cabage on the agenda and add Mike Callegari.

  5. Mr. R. Marion moved, supported by Mrs. J. Gordon, that the consent agenda be approved as corrected.
    1. Approve minutes from April 12 regular meeting.
    2. Receive Clerk's budget, Financial Report
    3. Approve Accounts Payable in the amount of $25,389.95.
    4. Approve Payroll for May in the amount of $ 5,186.99.
    5. Approve brine contract with WCRC - two coats of brine; total cost $21,620 less $9,432 WCRC conventional matching funds; estimated amount to be paid by Saline Township $12,188.
    6. Approve Fourth Quarter Saline Fire Department Operating in the amount of $21,405.64.
    7. Saline Township Audit to be held May 25th & 26th.

  6. Citizens were offered a chance to address the Board regarding items not already on the agenda. No comments.

  7. Supervisor Marion commented on the following:
    1. River Raisin Watershed Council - Mr. Robert Prehn moved, supported by Mrs. Judy Gordon, that the township board decline participation with the River Raisin Watershed Council. Ayes 5 Nays 0.
    2. Oak Hill Cemetery - Fence and sign are in need of maintenance. Mr. Gumtow will obtain an estimate for the board to review.
    3. Cemetery Clean Up - Supervisor Marion thanked Mr. Gumtow and those involved for all their hard work.
    4. Clinton Township Recycling - Saline Township currently has their own recycling program therefore, a contribution to Clinton Township at this time was felt unnecessary.
  8. State Police - Mr. Prehn reported on the months of February thru April. The State police responded to thirty one calls. Contact the Clerk's office for a brief description on these calls.

  9. Mike Callegari/Road Committee - Mr. Callegari and Mr. Dwyer updated the township board with regards to the road improvement program. The township board was supplied with a detailed list of what the committee is proposing for this year. The road committee has also supplied the township board with a fixed bid from Hammer Trucking, Inc. for this project. The committee and the township board are hoping that the Washtenaw County Road Commission will supply a fixed bid as well. The township board is also considering carrying over our matching Ditching Dollars into the next year. Additional update should be addressed at the June meeting.

  10. Trustees report - Planning Commission will meet in June. Board is still working with Don Pennington to correct the Master Plan.

  11. Zoning/Building Administrator - Saline Township went to court on April 14, 2010 with regards to the condition of a home located on Mooreville Road. The judge has given this homeowner two weeks to clean the property up. At this point it is still being worked on however the township is in contact with one of the residents to ensure the property is taken care of. Two civil infractions were handed out. Three building permits were issued. Clinks Landscape Company may need to be reviewed by the Planning Commission with regards to the ongoing operations; a special use permit may need to be applied for.

  12. Fireboard Report - No report.

  13. Township Hall Manager Report - No report.

  14. Board Member Comments - Clerk Marion mentioned that she has purchased ballot bags for the election.

  15. The meeting adjourned at 8:15 pm
