June 14, 2010
  1. The Regular Meeting of the Saline Township Board was called to order by Supervisor Marion on June14, 2010 at 7:30pm at the Saline Town Hall, 5731 Braun Road, Saline, MI 48176.

  2. Members present: Supervisor Marion, Clerk Marion, Treasurer Gordon, Trustee's R. Marion & R. Prehn. Seven other citizens were present.

  3. Mr. R. Prehn led the Pledge of Allegiance.

  4. Mr. R. Marion moved, supported by Mr. R. Prehn that the agenda be approved as presented.

  5. Mr. R. Marion moved, supported by Mrs. Gordon, that the consent agenda be approved as presented.
    1. Approve minutes from May 10 regular meeting.
    2. Receive Clerk's budget, Financial Report.
    3. Approve Payroll for June in the amount of $ 5,186.99.
    4. Approve Accounts Payable in the amount of $4,073.71.

  6. Citizens were offered a chance to address the Board regarding items not already on the agenda. One citizen commented. Mr. Clink addresses the board with regards to having a landscaped company on Michigan Ave. This issue will be discussed at the July 6, 2010 Special Meeting for the Planning Commission. Mr. Clink also expressed concern with the home located to his property; currently a foreclosure and the bank is only willing to mow one acre. At this time the township does not have an ordinance with regards to mowing. The board may recommend to the Planning Commission to consider adding one to our current zoning ordinance. Mr. Clink asked the board if more concrete could be brought in to be crushed; at this time the board has said no.

  7. Frank Chrzanowski - Candidate for the 55th District State Representative briefed the board on his views and why he's running for this position. Mr. Chrzanowski also answered questions the residents of the township had.

  8. Supervisor Marion commented on the following:

    1. Thompson Bar & Grill - The Saline Township Board voted back in August of 2005 (Ayes5/Nayes0) for the transfer of Granada Lounge, Inc to D.L. Thompson, Inc. The resolution was, missing the Ayes and Nays; they have now been placed on the resolution and sent to the State.
    2. Washtenaw County Road Commission - Road Improvement Program for 2010 bid form WCRD is $78,950. Mr. R. Prehn moved and was supported by Mr. R. Marion that the bid from WCRC be accepted. Ayes 5 Nays 0. The board is looking into along with WCRC the possibility of Hammer Trucking, Inc. to provide the trucking for this project.
    3. Gravel Pit Inspections - Per Dan Cabage the Feldkamp and the Marion gravel pits will be inspected in September of 2010. Updating maps will take place and a draft proposal to be presented to the Planning Commission.
    4. Planning Commission to meet in the basement on August 3, 2010 and a special meeting to be held July 6, 2010.

  9. Trustees Report - Mr. R Prehn to meet with Don Pennington on June 29 to finalize the corrections for the Master Plan.

  10. Zoning/Building Administrator - The resident who resides at the property located on Mooreville Road is still in the process of cleaning up the exterior of the property, however progress is being made.

  11. Fireboard Report - The new tanker has arrived and the fire department was able to sell the old tanker.

  12. Township Hall Report - Everything is in working order, clean up day is June 19.

  13. Board Member Comments - Judy Gordon mentioned that currently the township has placed its funds in one bank and asked the board to consider placing some in another bank, investing it or even buying additional property so that the township has expansion for parking and even an addition if needed. Property taxes come out July 1. Mrs. Gordon has purchased new printer and computer. Supervisor Marion commented on the Girbach/Morris situation; at this point the attorneys are handling it. Fire extinguishers to be checked, Mary Gumtow looking into other companies that can service them. Mrs. Judy Gordon moved and was supported by Mr. Robert Prehn that the board continues with their yearly donation to the Legion for Flags for the cemeteries. Ayes 5 Nays 0.
