February 11, 2008

  1. The Regular Meeting of the Saline Township Board was called to order by Supervisor Marion on February 11, 2008 at 7:30pm at the Saline Town Hall, 5731 Braun Road, Saline, MI 48176.

  2. Members present: Supervisor Marion, Clerk Baldus, Treasurer Gordon, Trustees Bohnett and R. Marion. Eight other citizens were present.

  3. Mr. Bohnett led the Pledge of Allegiance.

  4. Mr. Bohnett moved, supported by Mrs. Gordon, that the agenda be approved with the following change: 5c. Additional election worker payable of $30.00. Ayes: 5. Nays: 0. Motion carried.

  5. Mr. R. Marion moved, supported by Mr. Bohnett, that the consent agenda be approved as corrected.
    1. Approve minutes from January 14 regular meeting.
    2. Receive Clerk's budget, Financial Report.
    3. Approve election workers pay of $850.
    4. Approve Accounts Payable in the amount of $2,225.55.

  6. Citizens were offered a chance to address the Board regarding items not already on the agenda. No comments.

  7. Supervisor Marion commented on the following:
    1. Board of review time will be March 10 3p.m. till 9 p.m. and March 11 9 a.m. till 3 p.m.
    2. Building permits will still be directed to Robert Marion first and then to the Washtenaw County Department. If Township needs to change due to Washtenaw County cutbacks; Township may have to use services from York Township or the City of Saline.
    3. Attorney Lucas was going to provide a sample of a new fee schedule the Township may consider using. That information was not available yet.
    4. Attorney also suggested the Township consider adopting a policy for the Zoning administrator to have the authority to issue tickets to violations concerning the current zoning ordinances. Mr. Lucas should be available to answer concerns or comments at upcoming scheduled meetings.
    5. Complaints were received regarding the Emergency gate on Marion Road for the mobile home park. Township will investigate.
    6. Supervisor and Trustee Bohnett met with the City of Saline to further talk and plan the 425 agreement. Introduction of the new City Manager also occurred at this meeting.
    7. Mrs. Baldus read the January primary election results:

  8. Resolution 2008-002 Board Salaries was read by Clerk Baldus. Moved by Mrs. Baldus, supported by Mr. Bohnett, to support Resolution 2008-002. Roll call was taken. Ayes: Baldus, Bohnett, J. Marion and R. Marion. Nays: Gordon. Absent: None. Resolution Passed.

  9. Resolution 2008-003 Participate with Washtenaw County PDR was read by Clerk Baldus. Moved by Mr. Bohnett, supported by Mrs. Baldus, to support Resolution 2008-003. Roll call was taken. Ayes: Baldus, Bohnett, J. Marion and Gordon. Nays: R. Marion. Absent: None. Resolution Passed.

  10. Trustees reported that the Planning Commission by laws and officers were not passed at the last monthly meeting but will be addressed again in March.

  11. Zoning/Building Administrator reported a complaint of old travel trailer on Macon Road.

  12. Fireboard reported that Barry Barkel of York Township was appointed to the at-large position of the Fireboard. There is also one on call firefighter.

  13. Township Hall Manager reported that everything is going well.

  14. Tentative Annual clean up date is set for May 17, 2008. Further information will be available next month. Jessica Ping, Washtenaw County Commissioner is scheduled for the March meeting.
