June 12, 2006
- The Regular
Meeting of the Saline Township Board was called to order by Supervisor
James Marion on June 12, 2006 at 7:35pm at the Saline Town Hall,
5731 Braun Road, Saline, MI 48176.
- Members
present: Supervisor Marion, Trustees Bohnett and R. Marion; absent
were Clerk Baldus, Treasurer Gordon. Eighteen other citizens were
present.
- Mr. Bohnett
led the Pledge of Allegiance.
- Mr. Bohnett
moved, supported by Mr. R. Marion, that the agenda be approved
as presented. Ayes: 3. Nays: 0. Motion carried.
- Mr. R. Marion
moved, supported by Mr. Bohnett, that the consent agenda be approved
as follows:
- Approve
minutes from May 8th regular meeting and May 22nd special
mtg.
- Receive
Clerk's budget, Financial Report.
- Second
Qtr Payroll $16,820.30.
- Approve
Accounts Payable in the amount of $43,281.42.
- Trooper
Curtis from the Michigan State Police reported that in May there
were 2 Breaking and Entering (false alarms); 1 Driving Under the
Influence(DUI); and 3 accidents. Next visit from the Post should
be September 11th and December 11th.
- Citizens
were offered a chance to address the Board regarding items not
already on the agenda. No comments.
- Washtenaw
County Commissioner Republican Candidate Jessica Ping Mills was
present this evening to briefly speak on her political views.
- Supervisor
Jim Marion commented on the following:
- Received
a letter from SEMCOG regarding an update on Sewer and Water
locations for present and future planning of Township. Will
pass along to the Planning Commission.
- Ballot
resolution was hand delivered and set for the August 8th 2006
election.
- A public
hearing is scheduled for June 14th 2006 regarding an expansion
of an existing cabinet/carpentry shop.
- Special
Meeting is scheduled for June 26th to finish June meeting
with a full board present.
- Mr. Bohnett
moved, supported by Mr. R. Marion to nominate 3200 feet of Mohart
Road as a 2006 road project with matching funds established with
the Washtenaw County Road Commission. Ayes: 3. Nays: 0. Motion
carried.
- Mr. Bohnett
moved, supported by Mr. R. Marion that any available funds left
will carry over to the next year's projects. Ayes: 3. Nays: 0.
Motion carried.
- Mr. R. Marion
moved, supported by Mr. Bohnett to postpone Resolution 2006-008,
Waste Water Ownership/Control of Austin Commons II until the Special
Meeting on June 26th. By then all members of the Board will be
present and feedback from Saline Township Attorney regarding this
matter will be available. Ayes: 3. Nays: 0. Motion carried.
- Mr. James
Marion briefly discussed possible new candidates for Township
Planners. One is Carlisle/Wortman, and second is McKenna. Board
will ask Wednesday June 14th the Township Planning Commission
for some additional feedback regarding a possible switch in Planners.
- Cemetery
Ordiance review will take place at the June 26th special meeting.
- Trustees
reported that bids for new handicap entrance will be pursued.
Mr. J. Marion and Mr. Bohnett will be in contact with businesses
to request quotes on the cost to fix and update the ramp.
- Zoning/Building
Administrator reported minor issues. Mr. Cabage, Township Engineer,
was present to speak briefly on the Lewis Condo project.
- Fireboard
reported that on Sunday June 18th a training burn of the old Brown
Keg will take place.
- No report
from the Township Hall Manager.
- No comments
by Board Members.

adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
