March 12, 2007

  1. The Regular Meeting of the Saline Township Board was called to order by Supervisor James Marion on March 12, 2007 at 7:35pm at the Saline Town Hall, 5731 Braun Road, Saline, MI 48176.

  2. Members present: Supervisor Marion, Clerk Baldus, Treasurer Gordon, and Trustees Bohnett and R. Marion. Eleven other citizens were present.

  3. Mr. Bohnett led the Pledge of Allegiance.

  4. Mr. Bohnett moved, supported by Mr. R. Marion, to accept the agenda as presented. Ayes: 5. Nays: 0. Motion carried.

  5. Mrs. Gordon moved, supported by Mr. Bohnett, that the consent agenda be approved as presented.
    1. Approve minutes from February 12 regular meeting and February 12 and 26 Special Meetings.
    2. Receive Clerk's budget, Financial Report.
    3. Approve Accounts Payable in the amount of $3,069.89.
    4. Approve 4th qtr Payroll $16,820.32.

  6. Citizens were offered a chance to address the Board regarding items not already on the agenda. No Comments.

  7. Michigan State Police did not attend.

  8. Washtenaw County Road Commission presented their annual report. Saline Townships' 2007 matching portion will be $12,435 a decrease of $142 compared to 2006 figures. No specific projects have been nominated for the Township at this point.

  9. Clerk Baldus moved, supported by Mr. R. Marion, to table the Wireless Washtenaw Master Participation Agreement until Attorney Lucas reports back to the Board concerning this agreement.

  10. No report from the Township Attorney Fred Lucas.

  11. Supervisor Jim Marion commented on the following:
    1. MDEQ was instructed by the applicant, Biltmore LLC, to place a hold on the permit until further notice.
    2. Resignation letter from Planning Commission Member William Zink.
    3. School Election May 8, 2007.
    4. April 21, 2007 Cemetery clean-up 9:00 a.m. start at Oak Hill on Macon Road.
    5. Special Meeting March 15th, at 6:00 p.m. to discuss Court Date March 19, 2007.
    6. Settlement conference regarding Biltmore Lawsuit March 19, 2007 2:00 p.m. at the Washtenaw County Court House.
    7. Recycling contamination fees may be a problem for the Township if residents abuse the recycling container with garbage instead of recyclables.

  12. No Trustees report.

  13. No Zoning/Building Administrator report.

  14. Next Fireboard Meeting is in April

  15. Township Hall Manager reported that the rental tables are in need of serious cleaning.

  16. Mr. Eugene Heusel reported that in March a zoning variance for Kirk and Marilyn Gordon was tabled until further information was gathered.
