March 9, 2009

  1. The Regular Meeting of the Saline Township Board was called to order by Supervisor Marion on March 9, 2009 at 7:30pm at the Saline Town Hall, 5731 Braun Road, Saline, MI 48176.

  2. Members present: Supervisor Marion, Clerk Marion, Trustee R. Prehn. 7 other citizens were present.

  3. Mr. R. Prehn led the Pledge of Allegiance.

  4. Mr. R. Prehn moved, supported by Mrs. K. Marion that the agenda approved with the following changes: (11c) United Way in need of funds; (11d) Roy Townsend moving forward with bridge study.

  5. Mr. R. Prehn moved, supported by Mrs. K. Marion, that the consent agenda be approved as revised.
    1. Approved minutes from February 9th regular meeting.
    2. Receive Clerk's budget, Financial Report.
    3. Approved Accounts Payable in the amount of $21,448.47.
    4. Approved minutes from April 14th, 2008.
    5. Approved Settlement Date & Annual Meeting no longer to be held.
    6. Approved Fire Protection - Operating $85,623; Capital Improvements $14,775; Township Percent 11.82%.
    7. Approved Special Meeting to be held March 25, 2009 at 7:00pm Saline Township Hall.

  6. Citizens were offered a chance to address the Board regarding items not already on the agenda. 0 citizens commented.

  7. Deanna Shank- possible exercise class at the town hall; $5.00 a class; Monday & Wednesday at 6:00am and Saturday at 8:00am. 8-12 people per class. Is licensed and insured. An amount to rent the all will be discussed at the March 25th Special Meeting.

  8. Kathy Angerer - HR-4780-88 bill is still a possibility; government is looking for townships to have a joint effort with surrounding townships. Truck Bill was passed in a near by township, Saline Township checking into the effects on the township and what they can do. Kathy spoke of many current issues that are happening in Lansing at this time.

  9. State Police - were not able to attend.

  10. Taylor Jacobson - Willow Link spoke with regards to SRGA (Saline River Greenway Alliance). Wanting to promote filter buffering along the Saline River in the way of information being sent out to the Saline Township residents; at no obligation. No cost or obligation to the township. More discussion to follow at the March 25th Special Meeting. NAP- harvest value of land to be discussed at the April 13th meeting.

  11. Supervisor's Report:
    1. Washtenaw County Road Commission attending the April 13th meeting.
    2. Limit of tires per house hold for the Annual Township Clean Up - no decision was made; will be discussed at the Special Meeting on March 25th.
    3. United Way in need of funds.
    4. Roy Townsend moving forward with the bridge study.

  12. Trustee Report - Carl Girbach and Robert Prehn have divided the township up into three equal parts. Weather permitting (thaw) the roads will be assessed and placed in priority.

  13. Zoning/Building Administrator - 1 split application was approved. Morris Decker may apply for a Special Use permit with regards to a multi family dwelling located in a residential area.

  14. Fireboard Report - No report.

  15. Township Hall Manager Report - No report.

  16. Board Member Comments- No comments.

  17. The meeting adjourned at 9:00 pm.
