October 9, 2006

  1. The Regular Meeting of the Saline Township Board was called to order by Supervisor James Marion on October 9, 2006 at 7:33pm at the Saline Town Hall, 5731 Braun Road, Saline, MI 48176

  2. Members present: Supervisor Marion, Clerk Baldus, Trustee R. Marion; absent were Treasurer Gordon and Trustee Bohnett. Eleven other citizens were present.

  3. Mrs. Baldus led the Pledge of Allegiance.

  4. Mr. R. Marion moved, supported by Mrs. Baldus, that the agenda be approved as presented. Ayes: 3. Nays: 0. Motion carried.

  5. Mrs. Baldus moved, supported by Mr. R. Marion, that the consent agenda be approved as follows:
    1. Approve minutes from September 11 regular meeting
    2. Receive Clerk's budget, Financial Report.
    3. Approve Accounts Payable in the amount of $39,857.67.

  6. Citizens were offered a chance to address the Board regarding items not already on the agenda. Mr. J. Marion commented that roadside trash or dumping concerns should be directed to the Supervisor Marion. Washtenaw County Road Commission is usually accommodating to Township requests for removal.

  7. Saline Township Auditor Meredith Matthews from Robertson Eaton and Owen, briefly spoken on the fiscal financial statements ending March 31, 2006.

  8. Supervisor Jim Marion commented on the following:
    1. Settlement Conference regarding Biltmore has been postponed from October 16th to Monday February 12th, 2007 at 1:30p.m.
    2. Washtenaw County is in the process of changing the Right of Ways throughout the whole County. Supervisor Marion and Trustee Marion will be holding a conference call with Brian at the transportation department to figure out what's the objective of changing the Right of Way Plan

  9. Cemetery ordinance definition of cremation lots needs to be established. Mr. R. Marion moved, supported by Mr. J. Marion that Section 2: Definitions of Cemetery Lots and Burial Spaces are amended as presented. Ayes: 3. Nays: 0. Motion carried.

  10. No trustees report.

  11. No Zoning/Building Administrator report.

  12. Fireboard reported that the annual Chili cook off was down in attendance. Benefits will be lower due to the Auto Run costs of $6,000 as well.

  13. No Township Hall Manager report.

  14. Mrs. Gumtow reported that fall junk day attendance was down but was still successful. She conducted a small informal survey incurring of residents if a once a year junk day is acceptable; majority would like to keep twice a year schedule.

  15. The meeting adjourned at 8:15 pm.
