Township Planning Commission
Regular Meeting, June 14, 2006
Members Present:
Richard Zahn, Neil Bohnett, Trudy Feldkamp, Keith Girbach, Laurie
Leinbach, Chuck Rankin, Denny Zink
Members Absent:
None
Others Present:
Jim Marion (Supervisor), Robert Marion (Twp. Trustee), Dan Cabage,
approximately 15 others
Meeting
was called to order by Chairman Zahn at 7:40 pm.
Roll was taken; six members present (Feldkamp arrived at
7:45); quorum established.
Pledge
of Allegiance was led by Girbach.
Presentation
by Terry Brinkman, State and County PDR Requirements
Distributed information packets. Michigan Agriculture Preservation
Fund Matching Requirements. Pointed out key highlights in the packet.
Information needs to be received by June 30 for any changes. Township
requirements for County PDR:
- Need resolution.
Draft version by August 1 (Do at July Board meeting). Draft will
be finalized soon.
- Program
is required to do an appraisal. County will monitor. Townships
can contribute to the County program, but not required.
- If participating,
if application received from township property, County needs Township
approval. Other things to consider. County is going to notify
all non-participating townships (8). Applications from Township
will get extra points, if members attend meetings/training sessions,
etc. (Townships not yet participating: Saline, Lodi, Sharon, Northfield,
Salem, Sylvan, Lyndon and Lima).
Approval
of Minutes. Bohnett moved to accept the minutes of the May 10,
2006 Planning Commission meeting; Rankin supported; vote taken;
unanimous in favor; minutes approved
Approval of Agenda. Rankin moved to accept the agenda for the
June 14, 2006 Planning Commission meeting with the change in order;
Girbach supported; vote taken; unanimous in favor; agenda approved.
Announcements:
Special meeting will be held on June 26 at 7:30 pm. To discuss the
Saline River Greenway, the Lewis issue, the cemetery ordinance.
Also, to review Pennington as planning consultant and limestone
on Mohart Road.
Public Comments:
Environmental study on water table? Has this ever been done?
Consultants and the County have always been consulted. The County
does periodic studies through the County Health Department.
Township Master
Plan. What is wrong? Nothing "wrong", just needs constant
updating.
Public Hearing:
Young application for Special Use Permit
To consider the special use permit application of Dan Young to add
to an existing building for the purpose of a custom cabinet shop.
Discussion. One employee other than self. Nothing stored outside
(no lumber, etc). No comments from citizens. Bohnett moved to approve
the application; Rankin support; vote unanimous in favor. Application
approved.
New Business:

maps, updates requested, back to Board.
Old Business:
- Pits: Rumor,
Clink being paid for cement dumping; R. Marion will check. Marion
pit is being sold. Inspections of all pits in the fall.
- Biltmore.
Millage will appear on August ballot.
- Meeting
at Farm Council Grounds, Girbach attended.

for adjournment; Girbach support; meeting adjourned, 8:50 p.m. The
next regular meeting will be on July 12, 2006, at 7:30 p.m. at the
Township hall.
